Brett Aplin is an ARIA nominated, AFI/AACTA and APRA Screen Music Award winning screen composer who won the 2000 Annual Pete Carpenter Fellowship (BMI Foundation, NYC), traveling to Los Angeles to work with Emmy and Grammy award-winning television composer Mike Post where he composed music for Law and Order: SVU and generally couldn’t believe his luck.
Since then, he has co-composed 34 hours of internationally broadcast television drama, scored 47 documentary films or features, and composed or co-composed almost 50 hours of children’s television that have screened in over 170 countries worldwide.
He has worked with some of the very best screen practitioners writing across a variety of genres, his music having been broadcast locally on ABC1, SBS, Network Ten, Channel 7, STAN and internationally on Netflix, Disney+, STARZ, Acorn TV, BBC, Nickelodeon, National Geographic, Animal Planet, The History Channel, ZDF, and Discovery among others.
A few career highlights include co-composing the feature documentary James Cameron’s Deepsea Challenge 3D (Nat Geo), the worldwide hit children’s TV series Mako Mermaids (Netflix), the ‘60s detective series Ms Fisher’s Modern Murder Mysteries (AcornTV, Channel 7), and the fabulous 8-part crime / horror series The Gloaming (ABC / Disney, STARZ, STAN). Picking up two consecutive ARIA Award nominations for No Mercy, No Remorse (2022) and Splice Here: A Projected Odyssey was up there too…
A FEW FEATURED PROJECTS...
Music exquisitely composed to picture has a transformative quality that can elevate story, enthrall and captivate, confound and bewitch.
It can boldly lead the viewer to new and challenging territory, or comfort them with familiarity.
It's exciting, and why I love what I do...
