The Longest Shot Feature Film
Great news. I recently had the honour of co-composing the feature score to The Longest Shot with multiple award-winning composer Burkhard Dallwitz (The Truman Show, Underbelly, The Secret River)
The Longest Shot is a massive Chinese/Australian co-production, shot in Melbourne and Shanghai directed by Xu Shunli and starring Chinese box office star Wang Zhiwen alongside an ensemble of Chinese and International talent including Yu Nan, Zu Yajun, Lee Li-Chun and Kao Kuo-Hsin, along with Sabien Lucciarini, Christopher Downs and Koniukhov Konstantin.
We had the budget to record a live orchestra with a 40 piece string section, plus woodwinds, brass and harp and managed to do some really interesting things with orchestration thanks to the hugely talented Erkki Veltheim who made sense of our mockups. The score was mixed in 5.1 surround by Christian Scallan and it sounds great. Hopefully we’ll get a soundtrack release down the track.
Here are some pics from the recording session. Burkhard is at the back, Christian at the desk and Erkki at the side
